Pujiman (Desert-Born) Elders

Martu Elders play an essential role in the well-being and continuity of the Martu people, their culture, and their ancestral lands. They instil a sense of pride and belonging in younger generations by sharing their knowledge of traditional practices, language, storytelling, ceremonies, land management techniques, and ecological understanding. They provide valuable guidance, impart wisdom, and teach important values, ethics, and cultural protocols. Their invaluable insight and mentoring help younger Martu develop a strong cultural identity and connection to Country.
