Kunawarritji rangers out on the Canning Stock Route
The Kunawarritji Kinyu rangers have been very active on the Canning Stock Route over the past few months.
In September, the rangers travelled to Lipuru (Well 37) and removed a camel carcass from the well. They also visited Natawalu (Well 40) to maintain Mungkututu’s grave.
In October, the rangers went on an overnight trip east of 33 ground-truthing Jurn (Jurnpanja) and later, Yinaru soak. This was a special experience for the rangers, most of who had never visited this site before.
The wanti (female) rangers have also been busy with day trips to clean out waterholes to the west of community.
A highlight for the rangers was a Pujiman Camp held jointly with the Kiwirrkurra rangers on our common boundary. This featured activities such as digging for goannas, cat-hunting, carving and building a spinifex shelter.
