Kunawarritji ranger station upgrade
Vehicle inspections are an important job for the rangers. To start, a large tarp has to be laid down before work can begin to ensure tools and parts don’t get lost. But these checks would occur monthly, sometimes daily.
The system of setting up a tarp, driving the vehicle over, and repeating per job, didn’t seem the most efficient to the rangers. So it was no surprise when they devised a solution — the Kunawarritji car wash!
Work in the community included rangers concreting in four steel wheelie bin stands for the lucky winners of the Kunawarritji ‘Home improvements Raffle’. The winner’s names are drawn from a hat and they receive a small home improvement done by the team.
Rangers also established a new back lawn at the ranger station using runners from Well 33, painted and put in place three ‘slow down’ signs, and finished off the ‘Kinyu rangers’ mural.
